Long Weekend

What a busy weekend this has been. Beginning with Bethany's 1st birthday on Saturday till swimming in our backyard pool before bed tonight. On Saturday we went for a nice bike ride in the morning (about 8 km) and Anna biked the whole thing! We then went out for lunch to East Side Mario's because we saw a sign that said that kids ate free and we wanted to relax someplace to watch the Portugal vs. England soccer match. We stayed there for a couple of hours on the patio enjoying the great game while the kids made a mess and enjoyed their food. The afternoon was spent at a park that had Canada Day festivities and we then went home for supper and birthday cake. Needless to say, Bethany was a little too tired to really enjoy her cake.
On Sunday we enjoyed two great sermons by the new Dr. De Visser; he really has a knack for making the scene of that day come alive and this helps to bring a very effective message.
Today was spent doing all sorts of little things. Colin and the girls went picking strawberries in the morning at an Old Order Mennonite farm. Great berries! After that the girls had swimming lessons, their first one, in town at the indoor pool. Anna was great and very eager but Naomi pretty much screamed or cried the whole time. She is definitely not as brave and outgoing as Anna. We'll try it once more tomorrow and if she still won't cooperate I'll see if we can get our money back and try again another year. For the rest of the day we just had nice family time - playing at the park, swimming in the pool and reading books in the house. Tomorrow it's back to work for Colin and a normal routine for me!
The pictures are from a few months back when I had bought Anna and Naomi swim goggles and they were very eager to try them out. It makes them look like speed demons on their bikes. Bethany was enjoying a bath in the sink while the big girls were having a bath in the tub upstairs.

You must have posted just a few minutes before I came on to check if there was anything ! Cute pictures, can't say that Bethany looks as much like Emma on this one as the last one. The girls look priceless with their goggles on. Thay always have to try on anything new don't they. Never mind that that's not what it's intended for. So cute. Always a little hard to get back to work after a few days off too.
I've been home all day while dad and 3 others went out to hike Hope mountain. Wies B. biked over for coffee this morning for 2 hours. Did the wash and have been sitting here reading my Mitford book #5, love them. Want to read something light and have some good chuckles, get them. Jan Karon is the author.
Dad phoned a 1/2 hour ago from Hope and will be home by 7 after which we will go out for supper. Have a good night.
Hokey Flip, I can't remember if it's Sharon or myself, but we've got a picture somewhere that looks IDENTICAL to the one of Bethany in the sink!!! (Mom, do you remember which one of us it is??).
So, how did swimming lessons go on Tuesday???
