A visit to the farm

Last week Friday I went to a friend's house for lunch and a tour of her dairy farm. I thought Bethany and Silas would love the opportunity to see some farm animals. It was not meant to be and the first thing that set Silas off was the hired hand driving the tractor around. He cried and cried, saying, "tractor - scary" and we even own a tractor ourselves! Silly boy! Then it was off to the barn where he didn't quite like the look of those huge dairy cows. Bethany wasn't too sure about them either but managed to be brave enough to walk by them. She even held one of the barn cats that clung precariously to her coat. The one thing that she did like was collecting the eggs for Mrs. Debra. She was so proud that she put them all in the bucket without breaking them :) All in all it was a very nice visit and it's good for the kids to get exposed to farm life; who knows if we'll ever have some animals around our place?!?!?

A roan coloured calf.

Silas not impressed.

Bethany and a barn cat.

Trying to get him used to the barn.

Another barn cat.

Still not thrilled about the whole idea :)

Poor little guy. I gues you do need to get an animal or two yourself for him to get over it. Just We have company this weekend who were here several days last year as well and their daughter Corday was petrified of Licorice. She'd climb on the island whenever they were upstairs. Since then, they've had her close to animals any chance they can and now she will even pet Licorice and go looking for her. Exposure is the key>
