A step back in time

The day has finally come and Anna couldn't be any happier. The much anticipated Pioneer Day in the grade three classroom was held today. As you may remember from previous posts, our girls are very much into playing Little House on the Prairie, with Anna being Mary, Naomi being Laura and Bethany being Grace. How convenient then, that Anna was studying the pioneers in school this year. She just finished her project on 'the general store' and this dress up day was the culmination of all the students' hard work. It was hard not to be excited with her and so I put in some extra effort and made her a pioneer dress for the occasion. I was very happy with the result and so was she. Anna was also allowed to bring in a pioneer snack and so we decided to do something with maple syrup - which is so plentiful around here. At a local store we found homemade maple butter that would taste just fine on some crackers. So, with lunch pail in hand, braids in hair and bonnet on head, our little Laura Ingalls 'walked' off to school today!

Anna all excited for her Pioneer Day.

Oh, and just for the record, today was our first official snow fall. There were a few centimeters on the ground this morning when we woke up and we've been having squalls off and on all day. Time to start thinking about getting the rink set up :)
