Fun with Family
Last week was a wonderful week spent camping with some of the members of the M side of the family. Colin's oldest sibling, Shona, her husband John and their children Devon, Katrine, Emma, Ben and Claire, traveled all the way across the country to visit their M cousins. We thought it would be time well spent if we could all be together for the week that they were here. So, we together with Pete and Chandra and their children, stayed five nights at Port Burwell Provincial Park. The weather was beautiful the entire week which meant we could spend lots of time at the beach. The cousins, though various ages, played so well together and always included each other. It must be that strong family bond. The park itself is a real family park and seems to be a real popular place with reformed families. This meant that there were plenty of blonde haired little kids running and biking around the campground. Our combined fourteen kids just blended right in :) One down side to the park is that you have to drive to the beach. Once there, though, it is a short walk over some dunes to plenty of unspoiled, sandy beach. The water was the perfect temperature and most of the kids looked like drowned, sun-burnt rats at the end of the day.
Every evening we got together to sit around a campfire or play a game in one of our dining tents. The kids, if they weren't too tired, got to sample a lot of Uncle John's famous smores. Why is it that you're always hungry while camping? Instead of losing weight due to the extra activity, I think I gain weight due to the constant supply of junk food. Oh well, there's always another day!
John and Shona came to our place for the weekend after packing up camp on Saturday morning. We then enjoyed their company for Saturday night and Sunday. They left early morning Monday for their long trek back. What a lot of memories were made in that last week and Monday was spent with some very teary eyed children. They missed their cousins already and wanted them to stay longer...
I didn't take a ton of pictures but I think the ones below will be enough to satisfy your curiosity :)

it's amazing how much Colin looks like Uncle Ben in these pictures.
Looks like you had a great time.
Oh dear, I'm incredibly jealous right now. But also very happy for everyone that got to enjoy time together!! Looks like a great week! And Colin looks very different with facial hair! Is that a relatively new development? Looks good....
Glad to hear that the cousins played well together!! Thanks for posting pictures :)
Looks like you all had a great time, and thanks for the pictures. Colin does look good with the facial hair.
Nice for the cousins to spend time to get to know each other better.
