Charleston Lake Provincial Park

We once again visited one of our favourite parks for a week this year. This is the fourth time we've been to Charleston Lake Provincial Park and it never disappoints. The weather was great considering that we have been having a rather cool and wet summer so far. We were able to go swimming every day but also had overcast mornings which were great for canoeing, hiking and fishing. We were joined for the week by my cousin Maria, husband Dave and their children Levi, Avery and Owen. Their children are similar ages as ours and, thus, the kids had a lot of fun together. The older ones had some freedom as they were able to go biking on their own around the campground loops and also go to the playground.
On one dreary morning we went for a drive into Gananoque and on the way stopped at the Thousand Island Sky Deck. Colin took Anna and Naomi up the 400' tower while I stayed below to watch over Bethany and Silas, who were sleeping in the van. (Oh, and I'm not too crazy over heights either :) The pictures Colin took were really cool; the St. Lawrence River is quite an amazing stretch of water.
Colin also celebrated his birthday while we were at Charleston Lake. The kids and I tried to make it as special as we could by buying a cake and decorating it with 32 candles. Colin is used to having his birthdays while on holidays as he said the majority of them were spent this way as a kid. He still laments the fact that he rarely got a birthday party (with school friends) all those years. Poor kid! Anyway, he's over it now and enjoyed his day with family and friends in the great outdoors.
Well, without further ado, here is the slide show of our fun week.

Wow, beautiful pictures and it looks like everyone was having a great time except for poor Silas being buried in the sand :-)
