In the Middle of Nowhere

making memories in the country

I'm still here...

Well, blogging just hasn't been a big priority lately as there are lots of other things that have taken its place. Things like canning, freezing, baking, cleaning... and just the normal routine of school, church and home. The girls have adjusted well to being back in school and Bethany and Silas are loving their time at home with me. Bethany has started a Music for Young Children program that is held every Monday morning at someone's house. I sit in the class with her, along with Silas, and together we learn songs, rhythm, beat and also do some crafts. She really enjoys it as it is like school for her once a week. Anna is back at piano lessons once a week and we've been looking for a real piano now (instead of her playing on a keyboard). What a task that is! We don't want to haul a one hundred year old piece of 'junk' into our house but yet we don't want to invest thousands of dollars in one either. Kijiji has been our source so far, and I'm sure we'll come across one sooner or later that fits our criteria.
It doesn't take long before the weeks fill up and you wonder where the time went. Our holidays at the cottage seem like a distant memory already. We have had a beautiful September that has seemed like another month of summer - keeping us in shorts and t-shirts a little longer. To keep up the summer memories here are some photos of our time at the cottage.

All the kids having fun in the sand at the beautiful beach.

Colin showing the kids how to skip stones.

Anna trying her 'feet' at skim boarding (riding the waves very close to the shore). It looks easy but it's very hard to do :)

We took the kids mini-golfing one morning and Silas took to it like all the other sports he loves so much. Colin says he's now ready to drive the golf cart for him.

Nobody's keeping count now...

On our last evening there we went into Grand Bend to watch the sunset. What a wonderful way to end our last holiday. The kids were treated to a candy of their choice so they could have something to munch on while watching God's wonderful handiwork.

Above, the cottage from the front, and below, the cottage's back yard.
The cottage was not on the water but was in biking distance from the beach and was in a very treed and quiet neighbourhood just outside of town. A very peaceful location where we spent lots of time just relaxing as a family.

Costco has a nice digital piano for $499, if that interests you at all. No tuning, and they sound/feel pretty close to a wood piano...
