Christmas Time
What a busy last few days! Anna had her Christmas program on Thursday, Dec. 21 in the evening in her school gym. We thought we had arrived early enough to get a good seat but ended up sitting so far back that we weren't able to see her singing. We both had to pretty much stand up or strain over to see her the odd time. Oh well, the singing was nice and the kindergarten kids don't actually do that much. She was very excited about this event and was singing and reciting the whole previous week. Friday we went skating with some friends of ours from church and Saturday we had our own family Christmas celebrations. I had made croquettes earlier in the month so I deep- fried those and then made up a batch of oliebollen. Not a very healthy supper but the kids loved having all that snack food.
On Sunday after our two services we drove to London to spend Christmas day with my parents. We had a wonderful time playing games and eating lots of turkey. My sister, Diane, was also there but other than that it was pretty quiet. (We are getting together with most of my other family later on in the week.) On Christmas day after our turkey dinner we went skating at Victoria Park in downtown London. It's an outdoor skating rink so the kids thought that was pretty neat. The park also has all their trees lit up and it looks quite nice at night. Needless to say they were very tired when bedtime came around.
Bethany has been quite a trooper throughout these holidays as on Sunday we noticed she was coming down with the chicken pox. The first couple of days haven't been so bad but today she is definitely uncomfortable. I'm glad she's got them now but it's a rather inconvenient time of year for illness. Now all of the kids have had them so that's one less thing to worry about!
Now the next few days should be a little quieter. We hope to take advantage of some of the Tim Horton's free skates at our local arena. Hopefully we can work off some of our holiday food!
