First Skate - November 22
I never expected to be skating this early in the year, but this past week has been excellent weather for the rink. We skated on Saturday for the first time - twice for over an hour each time, and this evening just Anna, Naomi and I went for a skate in the dark (countered with two 500 watt flood lights) just before dinner time. The kids are absolutely loving it, and we hope to be able to enjoy it all winter long.
Temperatures are forecasted to be right around zero this week, so it is unlikely we will be able to skate much - but we won't lose the base of ice we have (about 4 to 9 inches thick, depending on
where you are on the rink).

It looks great! We're going to miss our pond this year. The past couple of years we had a pond on the yard and we could skate there when it was frozen. This house doesn't have a pond or room for a rink.
