Easter Weekend

Good Friday started out like this:

There were six in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over." So they all rolled over and Dad fell out... :)

After our Good Friday worship service I headed up to Owen Sound to visit with family. My hard working husband was left behind to keep plugging away at those tax returns and financial statements. This, of course, is his busiest time of the year so often we have a quiet (sometimes lonely) weekend. That was not the case for me and kids anyway, as we had a wonderful time with some of my family. We started the afternoon off by going for a hike.

There were 21 of us on this hike which included two of my siblings and their families and my sister and three of her friends.

Naomi and Bethany taking a look at some waterfalls off the beaten path.

Anna, Naomi and two of their cousins checking for trolls under the bridge???

Silas chillin' out in the stroller.

After our hike we headed to Brian and Tonya's house for snacks and supper. We got to check out their new digs as they recently moved back to Canada. Here the cousins are enjoying some hot chocolate and pretzels.

We left again around 8pm but took a detour to check out the marina. Apparently there have been three large ships docked in the harbour all winter but only one was still there when we visited. The kids were blown away by the size of this boat and as you can tell by the comparison to our van, it was quite the sight.

The Chi Cheman is the other large boat docked in the marina. It is the ferry that takes people and vehicles from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island all summer long. It was a late night but since there was no school or church the next day, it was permissable just this once :)

Saturday evening we (this time all of us :) went for an Easter dinner at Wayne and Karen's. We had yummy BBQ'd turkey and then all the trimmings with it. The kids had fun jumping on their trampoline and then nicely went to bed there so we could enjoy a few hours of adult conversation.

Sunday was spent enjoying the sermons preached on the resurrection of our Lord from the grave. What a gracious and merciful Father we have in sending His only begotten Son to this world to die on the cross for our sins! This sacrifice was also made visible to us this Sunday by participating in the Holy Supper. How wonderful it is to experience our Father's love toward us, undeserving sinners!

This afternoon my sister-in-law Karen came down with her children to enjoy some time outdoors. It was still quite cool but that didn't stop the kids from playing in the bush and making forts. The girls had one started with leaf walls and logs while the boys went straight to making the real deal with split rail fence logs.

The girls' bedroom in their fort.

The boys' very cool fort.
