Canada Day - Bethany's Birthday
After we packed up our stuff from camping, we headed to the beach to spend some time with family for the rest of the day. As three of my siblings live in the Owen Sound area, it is quite convenient to get together when we head up there. It was, after all, Canada Day and Bethany's 5th birthday, so a great reason to celebrate! Not everyone from the 'B' family could be there, but those of us that could, had a fabulous afternoon and evening. Here's how the day started:
Bethany 'reading' her card from Dad and Mom for her birthday. We had her convinced that she wasn't getting any presents because we were on holidays and it was too hard to bring/buy anything. She was thrilled when I pulled out the wrapped items after our breakfast.
She was spoiled with a Playmobil camper and a wading pool set to go with it (from Grandpa and Grandma M.), a Canada Day T-shirt and a Laura Ingalls storybook.
Silas having lots of fun in the sand at the beach.
Bethany and cousin Josette.
Anna (in the blue) and cousin Erin.
The adults relaxing.
After the beach, we headed to Bernard and Trish's house for a BBQ and more family fun. Here the guys are playing a rousing game of soccer with the kids.
No day is complete without a hayride from Uncle Bernard - his rides always tend to be a little on the wild side, just the way the kids like it :)
Time for birthday cake! Bethany was perma-smile all day!
This picture doesn't really fit the theme of the day, but it is a such a boy thing. Silas had found this huge machine-gun-looking-toy that had him enthralled for a long time. He seemed to know just how to handle it - even though it was almost as big as him.
Everyone gathered round at the end of the day for a small fireworks display. It was all good until the second last firework decided to head horizontally toward the haywagon instead of vertically into the sky. There was some shrieking and screaming but thankfully it stopped several meters before the wagon and became a dud.
The birthday girl when we got home. She fell asleep on the way home and couldn't even stay awake long enough to make it to her bed. "Wasn't that a party?"
