Another day of firsts
This morning was the start of our Wednesday morning Bible study. We've started a different format this year which is : starting our meetings at 9:30am, meeting three times a month with one week off, and studying each time for about an hour. The objective is to have more productive meetings where people have come prepared and to have more continuity by meeting weekly. I think it will work well as long as we can get babysitters for our kids, which has proven very difficult in our church. Anyway, it's good to be back studying God's Word on a regular basis.
Another first today was the start of Anna's music class. She started this program last year and we were very impressed with it. It is a 50 minute class with around 12 children in which they learn alot of music theory. We have been told by her teacher that when she finishes this three year program she will have a great basis for starting pretty much any instrument. We figure it's money well spent because we haven't invested money into an instrument that we're not sure she's going to like. This way she learns valuable lessons about rhythm, beat, notes, singing and playing basic instruments like the xylophone and glockenspiel. The teacher is absolutely fantastic and has great credentials for early childhood music education. Anna loves going and already last year could identify all the notes (i.e. 1/8th note, whole note, 1/16th note, staff, treble cleff etc. ) and how to put them in the context of tees and taas (i.e. short and long). They have two open houses a year where the parents can come and watch a class in session. It is amazing to watch how her teacher is able to get all the children to understand and perform all the concepts. Check out her school at The Beckett School Inc. (Thanks Chandra!)

Neato Anna, sounds like a fun thing to do learning music this way.
Mom tells me you're really enjoying school too. Good for you !
We have society every week as well and our babysitters are the moms. They make a list and have a different mom do it each time. That is, at least for the younger kids. The older ones we have story time. This is a mother that comes every week specially for that and she just loves it. She prepares crafts and bible stories every week. Don't know if you'd be able to find someone like her but we ain't sharing her !!
