Power Caching
This past long weekend we had unseasonably cold and wet weather. Seeing as how this May long weekend was earlier than other years, it doesn't surprise me that much. This was also the first weekend since Colin's busy season that we had nothing going on. What did we do all weekend? Well, let's just say that our geocaching stats (listed on our blog) rose significantly in a very short time indicating that we found lots of caches. On Saturday we did a tour cache where we traveled to about eight small towns in the area with each location hiding a micro-cache. Some were very tricky to locate and all of the caches were the size of a AA battery, micro indeed! At each one we were to remember a letter that would give us a number coordinate so that at the end of the tour we could find the final cache. We had a nice drive through the country and discovered some neat, out of the way parks.
On Monday afternoon we again did some geocaching. This time we headed into the city and again discovered some nice walking and biking trails. Colin and I think it's just so neat that we come upon these parks and trails that we never would have known about if we had not sought out a geocache there. Many a time we remarked that we would have to come back some time with our bikes. At the end of the day the girls ended up with a pretty good stash of goodies - teddy bear, eraser, puzzle, coin, plastic frog - all things that we can hopefully trade up in our next geocache expedition. All in all it was a great family weekend spending lots of time together while enjoying the great outdoors.
Below are some pictures of when I went to the park with the kids last week. It was our first picnic of the season and if you've got a good memory you will remember where this park is :)
First time in the bike trailer and loved it!
"I'm the 'king of the castle' and you're the dirty rascal!"
Just content to swing on the bottom bar.
Monkeying around!
Silly sisters put him up to this - they said he wanted to go scuba diving!
