First Snow Day

We sure got dumped on yesterday and overnight! The weather wasn't particularly cold so the snow and ice pellets we got sure made the roads miserable to drive on; hence the reason for a snow day. It's always exciting when the kids get a day off of school and it was kind of nice to have a day where there is nothing on the schedule. Colin spent a good hour outside blowing out the driveway and shoveling the rink at 7am this morning, so he's getting a good idea of what it's like to be a farmer:) The kids and I had fun playing Monopoly Jr., making crafts and playing outside. The snow was perfect packing snow so the kids tried to make a fort but the snow balls got so big and heavy that they couldn't roll them into the spots they wanted. The ice rink has melted somewhat so it's a tad too slushy to skate on but we're hoping in the next few days to be on it again. Well, it's a whole lot easier to just get on with the pictures (than to continue rambling), so here they are:

Colin acting like a pro on the tractor.

Proof of the bounty - our back deck.

Looking out the back door towards the bush, it looked so pretty.

The girls getting crafty by making paper chains.

My new mode of transportation to get the mail. These cross country skis were a steal at the MCC Thrift and Gift, only $9.00! They are the newer style with updated bindings and just the right length for me...they worked like a charm. This ought to keep me in shape over the winter:)

Silas trying to stay warm in the stroller. He loves watching the girls sled down our little hill or me shoveling the walkway. It's a good thing he doesn't know that in a few years that will be his job:)

Wow that is a lot of snow.
We have a lot of wind happening here today and still no snow in the forecast, much to our boys chagrin!
Stay warm, stay safe.

Hey, why didn't you let us know the girls were home? Once the roads were cleared, we could have come up for a snow day visit! :o)

wow, lots of that white stuff all in one day! Colin better do some shoveling besides going on the tractor. That's cheating and not exercise!!
