Family Time
What a wonderful weekend we had visiting with family that we don't see too often. First, on Friday, Dad and Mom Meerstra arrived at our house after having spent the week with Pete and Chandra at a cottage. We took them out for supper to The Crossroads as one of their coupons that they could redeem for their anniversary. When we got back home and got the children into bed we went to Guelph for Brian and Tonya's farewell party. Dad and Mom agreed to stay home and babysit for us; one of the few times we've had free babysitting! It doesn't seem real that Brian and Tonya will be moving to Colorado in a few days. We will miss seeing their new little one due to arrive at the end of December. Oh well, I guess it means planning a trip to see them sometime and get some skiing in too!
Saturday was a busy day with Grandpa and Grandma coming over and John and Shona popping by for a quick visit as well. They were in Ontario just for the weekend so it was nice for them to see our "new" house and spend some quality time with our family. They left after supper and we had a relaxing evening with Dad and Mom.
As Monday came around it was time to say good-bye to Grandpa and Grandma. They left mid-afternoon and it was nice that Anna was not in school as all the kids could say their good-byes in person. It's always hard to say good-bye but we treasure the times that we do get to see them. It's very special for the children and they get very excited about Grandpa and Grandma's visits - sometimes too excited. Anna was teary-eyed that night as she went to bed, saying, "I miss Grandpa and Grandma!"
Now it's back to a regular routine, but things just don't seem to slow down. Anna had her special "Me" day on Tuesday and got be the teacher's big helper. Wednesday was League Day and this year it was in Arthur, only 25 mins. from our house. The speeches were great and generated good discussions. I then went out for supper with three other ladies to Kelsey's in Waterloo, a nice way to end the day. I still got home in time to kiss the kids goodnight. They were exhausted from a fun day with Dad, he always spoils them when I'm gone! Actually I was pretty exhausted myself and so went to bed nice and early.
