Our own Sherlock Holmes and other great stories...
Today Anna's class had Detective Day at school. Her class has been reading "Nate the Great" all week and concluded the novel study by having their very own mystery to solve at school. The kids were invited to dress up for the occasion and attempt to look the part. Anna has been very hesitant to dress up for school spirit events but is slowly starting to feel comfortable enough to follow along. Here's her outfit:
Maybe now she can solve the mystery of the missing sock! Why is it that the dryer seems to like to eat them (or is Genevieve secretly stashing them someplace)? Be sure to call her when you have a mystery you just can't seem to solve!
As for other news, there hasn't been too many 'extra-cirricular' things happening around here lately. We are trying to resurrect our rink after being away from it for two weeks. Ontario had a major thaw while we were gone and then it froze on a windy day. We're having a tough time getting it as smooth as we had it before. Colin is much busier at work now and doesn't have as much time to devote to it either. The kids don't mind skating on it when it's a bit bumpy but it's been so cold here that it's usually their frozen toes that send them inside after only a short while. The extremely cold weather has kept us inside a lot more but this way we manage to socialize more and play board games. It's been great catching up with family and friends in the last few weeks, and it seems that it won't be slowing down anytime soon :)
Silas is still not walking but nevertheless has no problems getting into trouble.
How can you get mad at this sweet little boy? He only wanted to get in the bath but got a little sidetracked by the toilet paper dispenser.
The little stinker managed to squeeze himself into our china cabinet that should be mounted on the wall. It has been sitting on the floor in our office as we don't know where to put it yet.
Naomi is thoroughly enjoying school and now goes every other Friday along with her regular Tuesdays and Thursdays. She has a very good memory and can tell me in detail what her Bible story was about each day. She then shows me the picture she drew to go with it and it's just as detailed. Let's hope her enthusiasm continues when she goes to school every day next year :)
Bethany is our little sweetheart. She plays so well on her own that on the days when Naomi is in school I find it too quiet. Today I had a friend over for tea and Bethany played in the basement on her own the whole time. She is very sensitive though, and when I have to discipline, great, big crocodile tears are always on tap.
So that's it for this edition of the "In the Middle of Nowhere" chronicles. It seems lately that I'm always in the "middle of something", hence the lack of posts :)
