Massasauga Provincial Park

On Thursday, July 19th we went for a three day canoe trip with our old neighbours Kevin and Joyce H. It was just the adults this time and we had a wonderful time! We shipped our kids out to family the night before and left early Thursday morning for our outback canoe trip. We ended up getting stuck in traffic in Toronto which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. If we would have arrived earlier at the park we would have got stuck in a terrible thunderstorm. It hailed for twenty minutes and lightening and thunder was all around us. We waited it out in the van before venturing out in much cooler but clearer weather. That evening while setting up we had a few drops of rain but other than that we were blessed with beautiful weather. The temperature wasn't too hot so we didn't swelter while canoeing and portaging. God's creation is just amazing and we sure experienced His awesomeness while living it out in the wild. It just puts our lives into perspective and gives you greater appreciation for what we enjoy every day. I often imagined I was a voyageur while we were out there and what it would have been like to travel by canoe all the time. Kevin and Joyce had never done anything like this before but loved every minute of it. They kept up with us in the canoe and put effort into everything they did. We thoroughly enjoyed their company and plan to do a trip again in a few years.

A view of Georgian Bay.

Our makeshift kitchen (we sure were fortunate that someone had constructed a table at our site; otherwise you're doing all your cooking on the ground.)

Our stove and eating utensils.

At the start of a portage.

Paddling on Spider Lake on our way to Clear Lake.

Please see above post for more beautiful pictures of our trip.
